Lounge at various stages

September 2001

This was the start. Here we have stripped the old plaster off.

September 2001

All plater removed. This is the fireplace and the back wall. The challenge of the back wall is that behind it is the neighbours garden where the lawn is half way up the outside. In other words it is similar to a cellar and therefore seriously damp.

September 2001

Another view of the back wall shown the damp.

October 2001

This is how we dealt with the damp problem. We lined the wall with a thick plstic membrane which runns right down the wall and under the floor. We then built an inner wall infront of the old one.

October 2001

This is the wall built with the membrane raised waiting for the concrete floor ro be put down.

October 2001

Job done. Wall build and new floor down with membrane all the way under. Effectively tanking.

14th January 2002

New fireplace done and ceiling with plaster board.

2nd February 2002

Room plastered out.

2nd February 2002

Wooedn floor started.

10th February 2002

Sizing coat of paint to seal plaster and radiator fitted.

17th February 2002

Wooden floor down.

24th February 2002

Floor stained.

5th March 2002

Finished.... well nearly.
